02/23/2013 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Mississippi Seafood is proud to be a part of a cook-off to benefit the victims and volunteers of the Hattiesburg tornadoes. The cook off will take place Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Hattiesburg Fire Station #1, located on N. Main Street Hattiesburg (East of Hwy 49) from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm and is open to anyone affected by the storm.
Declared a federal disaster, the Hattiesburg tornadoes damaged more than 800 homes in the southern region of the state and destroyed parts of the University of Southern Mississipi on February 10. President Obama has ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts.
Organized by the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, the cookoff will feature seafood generously donated by the Mississippi Seafood community, including Quality Poultry & Seafood, M&M Processing, C.F. Gollott and Sons Seafood, Crystal Seas Oysters, Desporte & Sons Seafood, and Family Frozen Food. First responders, the Mayor of Hattiesburg, the Sheriff of Forrest County will be in attendance. The Marine Patrol will be cooking, and other departments of the DMR are donating much needed relief items.
Mississippi Seafood is thankful for all those who have volunteered and donated to help those in the community affected by the tornadoes.
