(Jackson, MS) September 28, 2012 – Mississippi Seafood Marketing Program (MSMP) is thrilled to be a sponsor of Jackson Restaurant Week held September 30th – October 6th throughout Jackson, Mississippi. This week-long celebration of delicious, inspired dishes features the best of Jackson’s local restaurants and gives diners a chance to help a great cause.
Jackson Restaurant Week has something for every taste and every budget. Diners have the option to choose from an exciting menu developed exclusively for Jackson Restaurant Week or favorite dishes from the regular menu. The Parker House and Bravo!, two local Jackson hot spots, will proudly be serving fresh Mississippi Gulf Seafood in dishes like Panéed Gulf Flounder over Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes with Pancetta, Rosemary and Apples in a Citrus-Champagne Jus.
On top of getting a chance to sample some of the best food Jackson has to offer, each diner will have the opportunity to vote for a charity finalist at participating restaurants. With each order off a Jackson Restaurant Week menu, diners will each receive a ballot to vote for one of six charities. At the end of the week, the votes will be tallied and one charity will receive a check for at least $10,000. This year’s charity finalists include Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society, Extra Table, Grace House, Jackson Free Clinic, Little Lighthouse of Mississippi and National Alliance on Mental Illness of MS.
MSMP is delighted to be able to support a week full of creative, tasty dishes and a chance to assist an important charity. “We are so excited to be part of an event that fuses exceptional, local cuisine with an opportunity to help a great cause,” said Irvin Jackson, Director of the MSMP. “We hope diners take advantage of Jackson Restaurant Week and try as many restaurants as they can and place as many votes as they can. We’re especially looking forward to the menus at Bravo! and The Parker House, both will be offering seasonally-inspired dishes featuring fresh, wild-caught, sustainable Mississippi Gulf Seafood.”
Jackson Restaurant Week kicks off Sunday, September 30th and runs through Saturday, October 6th. To learn more about participating restaurants and charity finalists, please visit www.jacksonrestaurantweek.com.
The rich waters of Mississippi nurture many indigenous species including shrimp, oysters, crab and finfish. Seafood harvested from the Gulf of Mexico has proven to be the safest seafood in the world for consumption, routinely passing FDA and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) tests with flying colors. Fresh, wild Mississippi Seafood from the teeming gulf waters offers exceptional quality and flavor, numerous health benefits and is available year-round.
